Our Mission:

Embodying the Good News of Jesus Christ

The mission of Calvary is to embody the good news (gospel) of Jesus Christ.  We do this by faithfully hearing his Word, and receiving his gifts of salvation.  This transforms us into people who are willing to share our lives with each other.  We offer forgiveness to one another, seek the well-being of those around us, and give glory to God the Father in all circumstances.  We love because he first loved us.

Reconciliation with God.

God has reconciled himself to us through the blood of Jesus Christ.  As a community we experience this reconciliation as God delivers grace to us through the preached Word of Christ and the gifts of the sacraments.  This is how God does work in our lives and it is first and foremost how we are sustained as His people.  Our mission is to preach this gospel unapologetically to the world.

Reconciliation with others.

Though each Christian has a personal relationship with God, that relationship is not individual or private. The Christian faith is not intended to be lived in isolation. We were made for community; relationship with God and with each other. The local church is not merely a place that we attend but a people to whom we belong. The Bible calls us members of the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-31) with the expectation that we contribute to the body for the glory of God and the good of His people.

The Church is a supernatural community that is put together by the Holy Spirit.  Just like we didn't choose our human families, we don't chose our heavenly family.  God does, and he joins us together by His love and Spirit.  In this community we forgive each others sins, bear with each others burdens and build each other up in knowledge of God and wisdom for life.
